Calgary - For 94-year-old Stella Harrison and family, the phrase ‘Home for the Holidays’ took on a whole new meaning, as the family was officially handed the keys to the 2021 Calgary Stampede Lotteries Rotary Dream Home on Friday, December 17.
“When my mom first got the phone call that she won the Dream Home, she didn’t believe it was true,” says Diane Bladon, daughter of the Dream Home winner. “She’s supported the Stampede Lotteries for years, but never thought she’d win. When I drive my children [Stella’s grandchildren] past the home, no one can believe she’s won it! It’s definitely been the highlight of the past year for us – something exciting to look forward to for her.”
The family was presented the keys to the home during a handover ceremony at the house on Friday morning, in the northwest community of Livingston. The 2021 Dream Home, built by Homes by Avi, features 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, in a comfortable 2,490 sq. ft. layout. In addition to the home, the family also walked away with a bonus of $100,000 in cash, a furniture package, a playground set, moving services, a gift card to fill the pantry, home insurance, rubber garage flooring, and realty services – a prize value of more than $1.1 million.
“This home represents the 25th Dream Home that we’ve had the pleasure to design and build,” says Charron Ungar, CEO, Homes by Avi Group of Companies. “It’s only through the amazing partnerships of all involved that this is possible, and Homes by Avi, along with our many trade partners, are proud to have worked collaboratively with the teams at the Calgary Stampede and the Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park in helping to support our local community.”
In 2021, the Harrison family weren’t the only winners of the Calgary Stampede Lotteries. Beyond those who took home the other coveted prizes, this year’s Calgary Stampede Lotteries gave back more than $2.5 million to the southern Alberta community and to local charities through the Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park, and the Kinsmen Club of Calgary.
“Stampede Lotteries are about changing lives and building a stronger community, and this year, thanks to our amazing supporters, we were able to do both at a time when the need is so great,” says Jason Azmier, Chair, Calgary Stampede Lotteries Committee. “We ended up having to wait an extra year to give this Dream Home away, so it’s particularly exciting to see it is now finally ready to be lived in and going to such deserving winners.”

About the Calgary Stampede Lotteries
While the prizes, partners, and popularity have evolved over the years, along with the name of the lotteries itself, the partnership has remained strong. The Calgary Stampede, the Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park and the Kinsmen Club of Calgary still provide irreplaceable support to communities throughout our city and province. Purchasing tickets for Calgary Stampede Lotteries means you’re giving back to the community. Stampede Lotteries raises funds for the Calgary Stampede, a not-for-profit organization, and our youth and agricultural programs. The lotteries also raise funds for worthwhile community projects in southern Alberta through the Stampede’s three service partners: Kinsmen Club of Calgary, Rotary Club of Calgary at Stampede Park, and the Calgary Marching Show Band Association.
Since 2009, over $28 million has gone back into the community, providing help, hope and happiness to those who benefit most from programs. The Calgary Stampede is proud of this 70-year tradition in support of our community.
